Windsor Castle
Irresistible to a site which likes bad jokes, you wanted Windsor Castle. You have two.Mr Arthur Brownwindsor prefers the smaller one because the beer is better.
In 1992 a serious fire broke out in the Castle. The way it was reported you would have thought the lot burned down But as you can see from the maps on this site the place is vast, it is more like a small town in itself, it is the largest castle in Britain, and the fire was mainly confined to the northern sand eastern wings.
Not a lot to joke about for Windsorsoup, just two odd thoughts.
One. The destroyed area has been carefully restored but is it old? There is the tale of the carpenter who said he had his great grandfather's hammer. It has been handed down for three generations and in all that time it has only had two new heads and three new handles.
